30 THINGS THAT MEN SHOULD KNOW

1. In the lifetime of most Nigerian family settings, there are three Dispensations of Power.

2. The 1st is the first 25 years in the life of the family  (father, mother, children) where power indisputably rest with the father.

3. The 2nd is after the kids have grown & started working when the power shifts to the mother.

4. The 3rd is when the kids move out of the family house or start their own families when the power moves to the children.

6. We'll start from the 1st Dispensation. Total dominance of the father. He is the Lion of the Tribe of his House. The HNIC. The boss.

7. During this dispensation, the father rules with an iron fist. He barks orders & determines what does or does not happen.

8. The father often mettes out corporal punishment to the recalcitrant children. They grow to fear him more than they love him.

10. The father is the provider for the family & everyone is aware of that fact with all attendant consequences.

SILENCE: A LESSON TO LEARN FROM

A seed grows with no sound, but a tree falls with huge noise. Destruction has noise, but creation is silent. In your success remain silent as there is power in silence. Grow Silently. Cultivate Silence

A farmer discovered that he had lost his watch in the barn. It was no ordinary watch because it had sentimental value for him. After searching high and low among the hay for a long while, he gave up and enlisted the help of a group of children playing outside the barn. He promised them that the person who found it would be rewarded. Hearing this, the children hurried inside the barn, went through and around the entire stack of hay but still could not find the watch. Just when the farmer was about to give up looking for his watch, a little boy went up to him and asked to be given another chance.

Years back poor illiterate  parents produced Doctors, Engineers, Scientists, Accountants, Lawyers, Architects, Professors of yesterday and some whom I will refer to as Group 'A'.

These Group 'A' Children struggled on their own after Primary 6 or WASCE to become notable personalities. Most of them trekked to school barefooted and went to farm or do itinerant trading after school to survive.

Now Group 'A' ,who have now become Parents themselves are producing  Group 'B'  Children who are pampered and helped in their homework or home assignments from nursery school through secondary schools to higher institutions. 

WHO IS A MAN?

A man is the most beautiful part of God's creation.

He sacrifices his chocolates for his sister.

He sacrifices his dreams for just a smile on his parents' face.

He spends his entire pocket money on buyIng gifts for the lady he loves just to see her smiling

He sacrifices his full youth for his wife & children by working late at night without any complaint.

He builds their future by taking loans from banks & repaying them for lifetime.

He struggles a lot & still has to bear scolding from his mother, wife  & boss.

4MOTIVES THAT SHOULD NOT PROMPT OUR ACTIONS

  Do not do good:

- in hope of a reward.

- to attract people's affection and applause.

- to those who can only repay you. 

- with a competitive spirit.

  Only one thing should motivate our actions- the desire to please God.
